Each time a page on this website is viewed, an advertisement is randomly chosen from that month’s ads and displayed in the sidebar.

A vertical business-card-size (2" x 3½") ad, plus text and links, costs $5 per month. If you book (and pay for!) a year upfront (so Minor Mogul gets your money!), it costs only $50 (two months free!).

All revenues from ad sales go to maintaining this website and producing Minor Mogul movies. Thank you for your support!

Ad specifications

Effective selling on the Web is a two-step process. Think of attracting a customer as if you’re applying for a job: the résumé gets you the interview, and the interview gets you the job. Here, your ad gets you the visit, and the visit gets you the sale.

Choose a striking image of what you wish to promote to attract attention! Accompany it with a brief, vivid description of what you offer and why it’s exactly what the audience needs. Conclude with a specific ask — what you want someone to do after they see your ad. And include your physical address, your website URL, your email address, and / or your phone number — some way for interested people to learn more.

Images on the Web are usually either 72 or 96 DPI resolution, so your file should be about 240 pixels wide. Your ad can be in colour or black-and-white; the images should use RGB colour-space to display best on screens. Files should be in JPEG, GIF, PNG, or WebP format; if you want to send us a TIFF or PSD or some other format, we’ll convert it as appropriate. Animated ads are not acceptable, sorry; this website’s content is all static except for movies that people choose to play.

It’s good practice not to include too much text in your image. Search engines can’t index your ad, and screen-readers can’t see text in images so visually-impaired visitors won’t hear about you. It’s better to make your descriptive text just that: text. We’ll HTML-ize any links to be clickable.
